Nice that your medical challenges didn't wear you down, and that a second opinion didn't cancel your clear-eyed attitude about the first. Keep sending those cards. And keep writing these essays. We need more positive POVs like yours.
I love this and read with the heart of the granddaughter who attended a diabetes education class with her grandmother a lifetime ago. I was all of 12 and she did not live long enough to see me become a registered nurse. I knew from that class that it was a dangerous disease, most dangerous for those with little to no education. I put my heart and soul into my work. PS I love and respect all of the human physicians I work with.

An amazing piece of writing from an amazing human being - thank you for this!!!
Congratulations! Your compassionate voice shines in this piece. What a kind and creative way to offer constructive criticism!
I love this! Now, I love Dr. Emerson too.
The writer does a great job of portraying both doctors.

I'm also a nurse and loved this piece for its humor, realism, and humanity.
Absolutely. It makes me sad that the healthcare system makes us sometimes forget we are all human. This was a delightful and heartwarming read. 😊
